The optical properties of a paper, such as reflectance, whiteness, brightness and opacity, are important sales points for a paper maker. It is therefore crucial to report these values in an accurate and standardized way. An essential part of performing an accurate measurement is ensuring that the calibration of the instrument is correct. Standard methods for measurements of optical properties may vary for different applications and in different countries, but correct calibration is fundamental in all of them.
Our laboratory, located in Stockholm, Sweden is one of five in the world being authorized by ISO/TC6. The Optical Calibration Laboratory is equipped with all the types of optical instruments that are used in the pulp and paper industry today. We supply reference standards (IR3) for colorimetric instruments, as well as services such as courses and training. We deliver our reference standards to subscribing customers on a regular basis.
