Innventia is experienced in processing nanocellulose (also called microfibrillated cellulose and has developed several processes for low-energy production of nanocellulose. With Innventia’s, processes, the energy consumption for producing nanocellulose can be lowered with 98 % and nanocellulose can today be produced with less than 1000 kWh/tonne.
Innventia has also taken the next step in the development and in 2010 opened a pilot facility for the production of nanocellulose based on the low-energy processing routes invented. This enables Innventia to produce larger quantities and to work with its customers towards the commercialisation of their applications of nanocellulose.
The pilot facility's connection to the existing pilot scale processing equipment at Innventia, such as screens, refiners, fractionation equipments etc, makes it a unique testing and production unit for customers interested in commercialising nanocellulose and applications of the material.
