HybSpeed Printing – A project about achieving variable data print in high speed at high quality with a hybrid printing process

The need to attract the customer at the PoS is crucial and a hybrid printing process could customize the packaging with variable data print (VDP). Such a solution could be Flexo or Offset print combined with inkjet technology. The idea of the “HybSpeed Printing” Project at Innventia AB is to combine these processes, on-line, in the converting process. Inkjet print is “the” printing technique to add variable data into a conventional printed layout.The inkjet printing technology is already available, but the current process is not guaranteeing high quality printing at high speeds. Nevertheless, the constant developmental progress in inkjet technology will provide this soon.

The aim of the present project is, to evaluate the practicability and how to achieve variable data printing in high quality at high speed. This variable data could consist of regional or seasonal contents, local languages, bar codes or anything else that could be customized on packaging.
