The cleanliness of the pulp is an important quality parameter. Traditionally, it is assessed by counting all visible specks on a sheet of pulp placed over a light box. Obviously, this is a very tedious process. Moreover, the results are often operator dependent. An efficient on-line cleanliness sensor was developed utilising the basic measurement technology from the chip size sensor.
