Pressing Simulation
The press section of a paper machine has received a lot of attention over the years. The technichal development has been fast. Shoe-presses have gained widespread acceptance. It is necessary to deepen the understanding about the mechanics of the pressing operation. In connection with the project on impulse technology, Innventia developed models that well describe the pressing operation.

These mathematical models have now been made available for our customers in the form of a pressing simulator with an efficient operator interface. With the simulator the results of various decisions may be readily tested when an existing press section needs to be optimized or rebuilt altogether. The model is based on the physical principles guiding the pressing operation. The model is equally suited for roll presses and for shoe presses with an arbitrary choice of pressing pulses. The dewatering is modelled in the Z-direction and in the machine direction (but not across). The model describes the sheet thickness development and the water distribution.
