Innventia WoodSim
Innventia WoodSim is one of the tools used for improving fibre utilization.
Using Innventia WoodSim we predict wood and fibre properties in forests, stands, logs, pulp wood and saw mill chip supply flows.
 
Innventia WoodSim is a simulation tool. It includes models for trees and tree properties and a tool to read data from existing data bases (such as inventory data bases or harvester data).
 
In Innventia WoodSim there are currently functions to simulate trees and their properties based on a variety of input data. It is possible to build a “virtual forest”, thin it, harvest it (using different bucking principles) and finally determine the fibre size distribution for the saw mill and pulp mill assortments separately. Real data corresponding to a certain stand or delivery lot can be used as input to the model. Innventia WoodSim opens new possibilities for optimizing wood supply and end product quality.
 

Fibre length in the stem

The fibre length in the different parts of a stem for a given bucking alternative. The effects of different bucking or selection rules may quickly be visualized to illustrate the distribution of the fibre properties along the height and width of the tree.
