The HPI Laboratories
The HPI-laboratory consists of one perception room, one usability room and one control room.

Perception room

In the perception room, various panels of both laymen and experts carry out quantitative assessments in accordance with standardised test routines in a standardised environment.

Usability room

In the usability room, persons from the target group of the product/packaging being tested participate in both qualitative and quantitative tests such as handleability tests, in-depth interviews and focus groups.

Control room

The control room lies in between and is separated from the two other rooms by one-way mirrors, which make it possible for the test leader and clients to observe the test without disturbing. Here we have the equipment to collect and analyse test data efficiently. Cameras are used to document for instance how a test person handles a product or packaging.  Test persons are urged to think out loud and their comments are also recorded.

HPI-laboratory also has eye-tracking equipment, both stationary and wearable. These register how the eyes move while looking at a product and can give you a hint about e.g. how eye-catching your product is among others.
