The demands on the chemical pulp producers include
• Improved utilization of the wood raw material through improved pulping strategies and ways to optimize the pulp yield, both for softwoods and hardwood
• New applications based on hemicelluloses and new processes for separation and sorption of hemicelluloses onto kraft pulps to produce new pulp grades and new products
• Advanced know-how of production conditions governing pulp uniformity and quality.

 

Value:
The industrial value of the research is applications of improved and new processing technologies for the production of chemical pulps. The applications are characterized by high yield and new functionalities with uniform and high quality. The new processing technologies will be assessed and benchmarked providing a basis for the industry.
