For many years, a well established enterprise at Innventia has been Cluster research work, with the results from it being implemented in customers’ own commissions or through the developments in the companies themselves.
Partner customers collaborate in the cluster research to solve problems in common and generate new possibilities, using the resources and expertise available at Innventia. The results are further developed and then applied to create competitive advantages for the particular companies.
A cluster consists of several projects that are run under the banner of a common theme for 2 to 4 years. The research is spread over several areas of expertise with groupings of companies, preferably with similar or complementing operations. Sharing the investment costs in R&D, the participating companies reduce their risks, and benefit many times over from the investment.
Some important characteristics for a Project Cluster are that they:
- carry out application-oriented research, thereby developing new knowledge or new combinations of knowledge to be used for new technical solutions and applications
- consist of several projects with a common theme
- combine several competence areas within and outside Innventia
- are strategically important for Innventia Partners and for Innventia itself
- are an important basis for Innventia’s international scientific and technical profile
- give results and knowledge that can be developed further to industrial reality together with Partner customers through client projects
