In our Image Analysis Laboratory we carry out in-house analysis and trouble shooting on a commission basis. We also carry out application development and consulting for clients. Our aim is also to simplify and put into practice the image analysis applications being developed within Innventia research projects, and offer them to the industry.
Image analysis is an important tool for almost all research areas at Innventia, from wood characterization to colour print evaluation. Using our extensive knowledge of pulp, paper and print, and our image analysis expertise we have developed many established and custom-tailored laboratory and on-line methods for the industry.
The Image Analysis Laboratory offers services to study surface structure, print evaluation and formation analysis, using standard methods such as STFI OptiTopo, STFI Mottling, STFI Formation, and MicroGloss by Innventia.
We have also developed methods for fibril, fibre and paper cross-sectional characterisation using AFM, ESEM and CLSM, and surface topography analysis in load situations using CLSM. The latter methods are now services offered to customers by the Microscopy laboratory at Innventia.
Apart from images from a number of different microscopes, cameras and desktop scanners we work with data from other dedicated instrumentation such as STFI Linda, STFI Local Thickness and STFI Lint Pick Test.
