Linda is a web testing machine designed for studying the performance of a running paper web during short time intervals.
The equipment has a driving roll nip through which a 400 mm wide paper web can be run. The control system can determine the tension acting on the paper web before and after the roll nip.
Online measurement of web edge positions, width and length changes and tensions (before and after the nip) is a standard function. Moreover paper thickness, surface roughness, moisture content and compressibility can be measured on LINDA.
The machine design is highly flexible, the driving roll nip is movable and LINDA can be equipped with different special devices depending on the task involved. Units measuring properties other than those mentioned above can be developed on demand.
LINDA is well equipped for studying paper web behavior under conditions similar to those in a printing press. For example, the machine can be equipped with a dampening unit and the web behavior due to controlled moisture changes can be studied. It is also possible to perform dynamic paper strength tests under stable conditions and to study the adhesion of paper to different roll surfaces.
LINDA provides you with a unique opportunity to carry out qualified simulations and measurements, thanks to sophisticated motor control systems and advanced computers for recording and analyzing data from test runs.
