Inorganic Analysis including Metal Analysis

A compound not containing carbon and hydrogen atoms bonded to each other – is inorganic!

Inorganic compounds found in the pulp and paper process originates from the wood and from added chemicals. Inorganic compounds may cause deposits on equipment and products but also influences the chemical reactions, either deliberately or unwanted. For instance, trace amounts of catalytic metals in pulp or paper may be detrimental for efficient bleaching and the origin for problems related to instability to light and/or heat. Metal ions are often determined for different industrial process waters like black liquor, bleaching filtrates and effluents. Problems with the process or products can often be solved as a result of chemical analysis.

Mapping of inorganics such as non-process elements in the fibre line and in the recovery system is of importance to obtain information about how to prevent scaling and thus fouling. Experts in inorganic chemistry at Innventia are available for consultation concerning strategies to reduce the problems.
