A web break is a costly event which every paper manufacturer and converter wants to avoid. For a long time no method has been available for measuring a paper property which is related to web breaks. Innventia has however developed a method based on classical fracture mechanics which is currently being developed into an ISO-standard.

 

 A method to classify runnability

This method makes it possible to classify paper products from a runnability point of view. It can also be used as a tool for developing paper materials which are less sensitive to defects, which means that the runnability of a paper material can be improved.
