Modelling of the paper optical system – from component to finished print
PaperOpt is a five year project (2008-2012) equally supported by the industry and Vinnova within BFP (Branschforskningsprogram).
The project aims at modelling the paper optical system as a whole (i.e. the optical influence from all paper components and surface treatments, from printing methods and inks to measurement and evaluation) thereby facilitating efficient product development and production methods for papermaking and printing; improving printing quality and colour reproduction using lower ink consumption.
The project will deliver user friendly and verified simulation models that can be used as tools for design of future paper and print. During the project, 4 licentiate and 4 doctoral theses are planned.
