The Packaging & Product Protection Group is a forum for people with an interest in goods and product protection, for instance regarding packagin dimensioning, choice of material and damage preventive measures in connection with transport, storage and handling of both industrial and consumer products.
The main objective of this group is to serve as an inspirer and a knowledge bank for its members, to be a network where information is given and taken about both technical and more general issues as regards packaging design and product environment. The committee strives to apply a helicopter view on issues they study. Discussions within the group should also have an influence on the direction of the research carried out within Innventia.
The members should:
- serve as sounding boards for the long-term research in this area
- whenever required prepare concrete research projects, research applications etc. or give comments on proposals in their area of expertise circulated for consideration
- follow-up and give feed-back to ongoing projects
- work for the dissemination and application of research results, both internally at their respective companies and to external colleagues.
Some of the spheres of interest of the Packaging & Product Protection Group are:
- Description, analysis, simulation and optimisation of the transport process
- Analysis of transport and handling data
- Analysis of material data for packaging materials, e.g. shock absorption properties and moisture protection
- Environmental testing of product and packaging, e.g. protection against mechanical and climatic stresses
- Development and standardisation of tests and test methods
- Sensors, smart packaging and materials
- Information collection and information dissemination, nationally as well as internationally
- Analysis of the interaction between reality, simulation and verification.
The Packaging & Product Protection Group normally convenes twice each year. In connection with these meetings study visits and plant tours are arranged. When requested extra meetings can be held, e.g. in the form of seminars or days devoted to a particular theme or topic.
