The value of paper and cardboard materials wasted annually in Sweden due to transport damage is at least SEK 150 million – all related costs not included. And this is despite the fact that the damage frequency is very low. For the entire world this figure is probably close to one billion Euro.
IGP carries out its research projects at Innventia AB in Stockholm, Sweden, for the benefit of all parties concerned. Part of the activities take place in “trade and industry groups”, where companies with common interests within a specific area join forces in research.
From its reconstruction in 1999, IGP consists of around 20 companies, mainly forest industry companies but also e.g. transporters, insurance companies and manufacturers of handling equipment, who formed NPG - the Nordic Paper Group for Distribution Quality, the predecessor of IGP.
IGP aims at reducing transport damage
IGP aims at reducing these damage costs through applied R&D by:
• Contributing to the development of rational packaging, handling, storing and distribution of paper products
• Acting for the reduction of damage and damage risks in all parts of the distribution chain.
IGP's research program 2011:
