Prepress is the procedure that has to be carried out before the printing process itself, in order to adapt the digital files, created in the graphic design process, to the quality requirements and limitations of the printing phase. The requirements have to be defined according to customer needs. The prepress phase includes proofing where the proof is the communicator between the printing and the customer.
All information, text and images, have to be separated in a correct way where consideration is taken to screening, the kind of print technique to be used, printing press, what kind of substrate and ink and all parameters that in the end will influence the print quality. Colour management must be applied so that correct colour will be achieved. Every single step in the prepress procedure must be controlled in order to secure that the final so called ready-to-print-file (mostly a pdf file) will give the accurate print quality result when printed, assumed that all printing press settings are correct.
Innventia will provide knowledge about prepress issues.
