Innventia’s measurement expertise covers the entire papermaking process, from fibre properties to end-product performance. Our process management and IT experience, based on years of close cooperation with pulp and paper industry producers and suppliers, can be brought to bear on every stage of the value chain.
The Innventia approach, combining the theoretical foundation with a firm knowledge of industrial processes, leads to a large knowledge base of application experiences and often opened up new frontiers.
As an example, one major project studied how to optimise the refining process. One of the results was that important on-line measurements were still lacking, which led to the development of the STFI FiberMaster, now an important tool in this business.
In a number of projects directed at improving cross machine profiles, especially on Fourdrinier machines, Innventia developed a novel and innovative crossmachine profile contol system. Systems were later installed on many paper machines in Finland and Sweden with excellent results. These projects changed the way the industry looks at cross machine variations, their characteristics, sources and remedies.
In optical measurement technology, Innventia has broken new ground by developing technology for pulp and paper applications. There are a multitude of industrial systems in our customers' mills that can be attributed to measurement technology research carried out by Innventia. In other cases the Innventia knowledge and know-how once has been so closely integrated into systems from suppliers that their Innventia roots are by now essentially forgotten.
