Characterization of mechanical properties of fibres is provided by Innventia resources for Fibre and Material Properties. This includes microscopic analysis of the ultra-structure of fibres using AFM and FTIR-microscopy to single fibre testing of mechanical straining.
Measurements of moisture sorption properties as well as rheological i.e. time dependent mechanical properties are measured from the size of single fibres, on fragments deposited of support, on small paper sheets or films to larger wood sticks or beams and the influence of the environment, i.e. the moisture content and temperature may be characterized.
