Fibre research at Innventia has traditionally focused on the development of pulp strength potential. This is often evaluated regarding different wood raw materials, cooking and bleaching operations.

 

Thorough knowledge of the pulp strength potential is also of great value when evaluating the pulp strength delivery during a performance guarantee trial in the mill. During the trial the pulp strength in the mill is compared to the pulp strength potential obtained at the laboratory.

 

In order to fully evaluate the pulp and fibre strength potential, we have established a series of standardized testing procedures.  During 2007, a new laboratory digester was constructed capable of introducing compression and shearing forces. In this way, industrially relevant chemo-mechanical treatment can be studied in detail enabling the developmend of conditions and digesters desgins aimed to minimize negative effects on the fibre strength potential.
