Renewable fuels from biomass are already important energy carriers in many regions and are likely to be a key part of a future sustainable society. But there are new possibilities to produce both solid and liquid fuels from by-products and side streams, beside the solid fuels supplied by the forest industry today, such as wood and bark pellets, sawdust, tops and branches, etc. Integration with the pulp and paper industry is efficient, since raw materials can be handled in parallel and extensive integration of heat and process streams is possible.
Innventia partners with companies in the forest industry and in the energy sector to develop new and existing processes for biofuels production. This is done in laboratory, pilot, demonstration or commercial scale depending on the stage of development, and by assessing concepts with the aid of detailed process models.
