Edge carbon footprint calculator awarded "Best Environmental Initiative" at the annual Trade Association Forum awards

A carbon footprint calculator designed and developed by Edge for the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) has been awarded Best Environmental Initiative at the annual Trade Associations Forum awards.

Innventia Edge has a long standing relationship with the PPA, the UK magazine publishing trade association, providing them with environmental and sustainability support for several years. Recently, Innventia Edge has developed carbon footprint methodologies and a web-based carbon footprint calculator that allows the PPA’s members to input data and calculate the environmental impact of individual magazine titles, considering carbon as a proxy for environmental impact. A key requirement for the calculator tool, which was developed in consultation with a network of stakeholders, was to balance usability against complexity and transparency, whilst still taking account of the requirements of international standards such as PAS2050. This balance has been successfully achieved, as demonstrated by the fact that the tool already has over 300 users. In July this year, the project was recognised as Best Environmental Initiative at the annual Trade Association Forum awards.
The project was described by judges as “demonstrating an outstanding environmental initiative that benefits their members' sector and the wider world.”
