Edge welcomes Ian Dent on board Published 2008 05 27 | Print Print
We are pleased to announce that Ian Dent has joined our Edge consultancy team. Formerly the Chief Executive of the Packaging Federation, a UK based trade association representing the interests of the packaging manufacturers, Ian needs little introduction and is the first of a number of high-profile appointments that will be joining the business in the coming months.

“We are delighted to have Ian on board. His packaging sector knowledge and his network of contacts are an excellent fit with the aims and objectives of the business. Having worked with Ian on projects in the past, I know that Ian has genuine enthusiasm for the packaging sector and brings a wealth of experience to the team,” says Greg Wood, Managing Director of Edge.

During his tenure at the Packaging Federation Ian played a pivotal role in raising the profile of the packaging manufacturing industry through active participation in industry studies such as the DTI competitiveness study – Packaging in the 3rd Millennium - and an e-commerce impact study with PWC for the DTI as well as becoming an active interface with DEFRA and the Advisory Committee on Packaging (ACP).  His major contributions to the sector were to bring together the various packaging material organizations and converter interests into one family as Affiliates of the Packaging Federation and to act as the legal and financial body for the development of the electronic data system for the UK Packaging Regulations on behalf of the ACP.

Ian’s career background and experience emanates from over 30 years employment with BP, during which he held a number of positions in the business and commercial areas of the Chemicals business, and finally the Polymers business, which he represented on environmental issues.
