The consumer environment is changing more rapidly today than at any other time in history. The majority of consumers no longer want the stability of the same product format in one type of packaging. Variety, change and innovation are king. Against this backdrop it is perhaps surprising how stable the packaging supply chain has been over the last two decades, especially in the flexibles and folded cartons markets.

Other opportunities are available in these two consumer packaging sectors; overcapacity and too many players for too little business cries out for mergers and horizontal integration, a fact not lost on private equity firms and wholesale banking. Read more »
