Ongoing projects

There are a number of advantages and disadvantages associated with flat-bed and rotary die-cutting of cardboard for the manufacture of packaging. Very high speeds can be achieved during rotary die-cutting, although it has been observed that the ability of knives to cut through cardboard is reduced at high speeds.

One ongoing project aims to study how production speeds affect cutting results for a variety of cardboard materials. This may eventually provide the foundation for continued research into the viscoelasticity of cardboard.

The project employs Innventia's rotary die-cutter, which can operate at speeds up to 300 m/min.
