Our activities

Participation in ISO's "Packaging and the environment" project

The group acts as an expert in the ISO project which aims develop global standards for packaging and the environment.

Information about news and inititiatives in the packaging and sustainability area in Sweden, within the EU and internationally

The Miljöpack group carries out active external monitoring, for example through its members. We thereby gather information about – and keep abreast of – current debate, both within the EU and globally. Find out more under "External monitoring".

Dialogue between authorities and the packaging industry

Regular meetings with authorities such as the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency mean that a dialogue is maintained between authorities and the industry regarding packaging construction requirements.

Exchange of experiences and information between members, and discussions

The group holds annual seminars on topical issues. For example, in recent years issues such as carbon footprints, sustainability, ISO standardisation and the packaging industry's impact on the EU's energy policy and future resource shortages have been addressed.

Support and information for members on various issues

The group's secretariat assists members by providing advice and issuing regular summary newsletters.

Involvement in developing the GPPS, Global Protocol on Packaging Sustainability

The group took part in the international project run by global retail chains and brand owners. The aim of the project was to build a common platform for discussing and evaluating the contribution of packaging towards sustainability throughout the value chain. As a result of Miljöpack's involvement, we have a national source of knowledge here in Sweden for applying the system.
