The wood-based biorefinery

The chemical pulp mill is uniquely suited to functioning as a biorefinery: Wood-based "green" polymers, chemicals and fuels can be produced on a large scale in parallel with pulp production. The large amount of wood compounds present in black liquor, bark and forest residues are excellent sources of value-added chemicals and materials. The organic compounds can be used as they are, or after chemical modification.

Innventia has the expertise to take your mill a step closer to a true biorefinery. We can offer services relating to chemicals and materials derived from e.g. wood, black liquor and bark. Our broad competence includes knowledge about chemical pulp, fibre properties, chemical analysis, biorefinery separation processes and mill system analysis.

Xylan from a wood based biorefinery
Xylan is one possible wood biorefinery product. It can be transformed into barrier materials for food packaging or new biopolymers, for example.
